Do you remember that warriors fanart from like 10 years ago that was sorta tribalish with like a lot of swirls?? Like there was that one with squirrelflight standing on a ball I think? I cant find these on Google anywhere, I'm not hallucinating these right

climbdraws answered:

okay these were some of the very first warrior cat fan arts and they were based on Okami, they were used in pretty much every 2007/2008 slideshow video on YT and are i c o n i c

Art is by MoonsongWolf on deviantart

i wish there were versions without the obtrusive deviantart watermark damn

the artist chose to add the watermark because people were stealing their work & claiming it as their own - the original posts even have comments disabled because they're so popular as some of the OG warrior cat fanart

In celebration for my post about cat eye colors getting 500+ notes, I made this!

Know several things:

In the process of simplifying and explaining things, I likely made some mistakes. Fellow genetics fans, correct me on anything I did wrong, just don’t be an ass about it.

This doesn’t cover everything about cat genetics because I like my sanity. I left out the silver series, agouti patterns, albinism, and the thousand oddities that break the base rules that are normally confined to specific breeds. This just covered the most common/basic of cat genetics. I probably won’t make any more of these since this is just a masterpost of sorts for basic cat genetics for those who can’t stomach the boring crap.

You can definitely take artistic liberties with the exact hues and shades of colors! I do it myself, so it’d be hypocritical of me to say otherwise. You can totally have a “gray” cat be bluish-gray or greenish-gray or purplish-gray - whatever helps make characters look distinct! Reds themselves can range from a deep rust to a light ginger, and don’t be afraid to throw in hints of other colors into your blacks and whites.

You don’t have to listen to me. If making cats without a care for genetics is what makes you happy, that’s fine. If you’re just using this to see if any of your OCs are plausible and have no intentions to change their designs, that’s fine too. I won’t judge you for it. But if you like what I’ve made and want to learn more about cat genetics, welcome! I and others would be more than happy to inform you of anything you want to know!

These colors are saturated a little more for artistic purposes, but the general rules apply. As for tabbies, same rules just with stripes. Also serves as a help for coloring noses semi-realistically.

The full range of eye colors from little pigment to a lot of pigment goes as such:
Albino Pink, Albino Blue, Pointed Blue, White Fur Blue, Mink Teal, Green, Hazel, Gold, Yellow, Amber, Orange, Copper/Brown

The bold ones are colors on common cats with no special pelt qualities.

Hope this helps someone!

Ok so its currently 3am and im thinking about what if bengal versions of Bluestar’s family

Moonflower’s spots resemble moonflowers and their leaves

Stormtail just has a lil bust so I wasn’t just winging it with Snow and Blue and keep some sort of family resemblence. He’s a blue siamese and heavily based off my boyfriend’s mom’s cat

Snowfur’s spots are upside down hearts to resemble snowdrop flowers

Bluefur’s spots resemble flowing water and droplets for her prophecy. As I was drawing her, I started to think what if Mosskit had to die or Bluefur’s secret would’ve been found out? Like maybe with Bluefur’s kin being the only bengals, Mosskit could’ve been a snow bengal (no pun intended rip) and cats would’ve easily discovered the truth of their Thunderclan origins.

Another thing is that Whitestorm would be a cashmere bengal and Stonefur would have a couple small, jagged spots but his long fur obstructs the bengal pattern from really poking through (saving him from Starclan’s wrath ripmosskit)
